Welcome to NetworkBees, a group of people dedicated to helping bees. We publish this website, a Blog, and a Facebook Page to collect and distribute information about bees, beekeeping and Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD).

Honey bee working crab apple blossomsAround the world, millions of bees have been dying from a syndrome called Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD). The exact cause of CCD has not been determined. A growing consensus of scientists and beekeepers believe neonicotinoid pesticides such as clothianidin weaken bees' immune systems to the point that they cannot withstand the effects of other stressors such as fungicides, parasites, mites, poor nutrition, winter's cold, and fatigue from transportation over miles to pollinate crops like almonds.

Bees pollinate at least one-third of our food crops. Without enough bees to pollinate crops, fruits, vegetable, nuts and other foods could become scarce causing widespread food shortages and famine.

What can you do to help bees?

Two important things you can do: Plant Flowers and Sign a petition Now to ban clothianidin. The simple act of planting flowers from Spring through Fall - bees love purple, blue and yellow flowers - will provide nectar food for bees.
